A Mobile Notary’s Long Crazy Day at the Office

Thursday
8:00AM Check e-mail and respond, review loan documents I printed late last night for a signing today at 4PM. If there are any questions that require answering before the signing, they should be asked sooner rather than later before the signing. Eat breakfast and scan newspaper.
8:50AM Call to signing company, OPNS, leave message with questions about 4PM Palo Alto signing.
8:55AM Call from OPNS to answer questions (while I am leaving my place to drive to my 9:30AM Los Altos loan signing).
9:05AM Another call from OPNS (while I am driving to the 9:30AM Los Altos appointment).
9:09AM Call from “Ms. Jones” to schedule appointment for Family Superior Court the next morning at 9:30AM. I inform her that I am driving on the freeway (unable to pull over). I can call her back after my 9:30AM appointment for details or she can call back to leave a voicemail.
9:22-9:29AM Check e-mail and respond.
9:30AM-10:55AM Loan signing appointment with elderly couple who have several questions about their loan. We talked with their loan officer at length.
9:42AM Ms. Jones called about Friday appointment, we talk briefly, as I’m in an appointment.
10:40AM Call from client, Bill, (operations manager for mortgage broker) to schedule loan signing for 1:30PM in Foster City. We quickly talk, I accept the signing and write borrower phone #. (I will need to return to the home office to print 2 sets of the loan docs before the appointment).
10:59AM Respond to e-mail of client, “Naomi” requesting notary services sometime this afternoon in Cupertino. I start driving to my home office.
11:10AM Call to Naomi afternoon signing. Leave message. Unfortunately, I have to decline as I am booked.
11:12AM Call to Ms. Jones. I leave a message.
11:14AM Call from Loan Officer of Los Altos borrower. I pull over in a parking lot.
11:16AM Call and leave message for “Gertrude” to confirm 1:30PM Foster City appointment. I start driving to my home office.
11:20AM Call from Manager of loan officer for Los Altos borrowers.
11:20AM Call from Naomi goes to voicemail.
11:22AM Call to Naomi. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide notary services this afternoon, as I am booked. The other notary I refer business to when booked, is booked too.
11:30AM-12:45PM I arrive at my home office. Print the borrower set of loan documents for the 4PM Palo Alto appointment. I pack lunch as I will have it on the road during the drive to Foster City. I receive and print a few e-mails (two sets of each) from mortgage broker for 1:30PM Foster City appointment.
11:58AM Call to Gertrude for 1:30PM appointment. Leave message.
11:59AM Call to Gertrude’s sister (co-borrower) advising her non-confirmation/communication from Gertrude. She will try calling her sister.
12:00PM Call mortgage broker advise lack of confirmation with Gertrude.
12:05PM Call to Gertrude’s sister, she says stick with signing appointment.
12:50PM Leave to drive to Foster City. Lunch on the road.
1:20-1:30PM Review and prep the documents for Foster City signing.
1:30-3:15PM Loan signing with questions to loan officer and amongst each other about financial matters related to the property and the refinancing. Also, questions discussed with escrow. It’s an investment property so everything is final, no right to cancel within 72 hours.
1:52PM Call from client, Kim, (escrow company) for two loan signings, one in Santa Clara and one in Fremont during the next couple of days. We quickly talk.
2:41PM Call from San Jose resident for notary services this afternoon. Unfortunately, I am booked.
2:54PM Call from Amy the escrow officer for the 4PM Palo Alto appointment. We are brief, since I’m in an appointment.
3:17PM Call Kim leave message.
3:15-3:20PM Driving to find a FedEx box to drop Los Altos docs for escrow to receive tomorrow morning. Wonder around address location for FedEx drop box. A kind business owner helps me find it in the parking garage on the other side.
3:20PM-3:45PM Drive to Palo Alto
3:24PM Call from Kim to discuss two signings.
3:29PM Call to Bill for signing & doc status.
3:45-3:58PM Read and respond to e-mails.
4-5:30PM Palo Alto reverse mortgage signing which included questions and calls to loan officer.
5:35-5:40PM Call to OPNS for signing status update. Call Kim confirm receipt of e-mails.
5:40-6:10PM Driving south to drop off Foster City loan docs to make day’s pick up deadline for receipt by escrow tomorrow morning.
5:48PM Call Golden State Overnight for drop box locations and pick up deadlines.
5:51PM Call from Ms. Jones about tomorrow’s 9:30AM appointment. I am driving so, I have to call her back to discuss logistics and address information.
6:10-6:30PM While in truck in parking lot, prepare Foster City documents and invoice. Drop docs.
6:30-7PM Driving home
7:14PM Call loan officer, Silvia, of borrowers in Fremont to schedule loan signing (from Kim’s office). Leave message.
7:15-7:45PM Print loan documents for Fremont & Santa Clara loan signings.
7:20PM Call from Silva to schedule signing for Saturday in Fremont.
7:20PM Call from Ms. Jones about tomorrow’s 9:30AM appointment. Went to voicemail.
7:28PM Call to loan officer of “Lees” to find out his availability for the loan signing.
7:28PM Call and left message for Santa Clara borrowers, Lee, to schedule loan signing (from Kim’s office).
7:58PM Call to Ms. Jones discussed details of 9:30AM appointment tomorrow.
9:02PM Mr. Lee called left message.
9:17-9:39PM Call to Mr. Lee to schedule loan signing in Santa Clara and had a mouthful about his dissatisfaction with the lender and trying to coordinate his schedule, his wife’s schedule and my schedule. Understanding him was a little difficult with a heavy accent.
10:15-10:50PM E-mail and fax relevant documents for upcoming trade show. Read and respond to e-mails.
10:50PM End of work day.
